I learned about motif from To Kill a Mocking Bird so much better than just the deffinition. In To Kill a Mocking Bird there were very good examples about motif that taught me what it really is. Motif is a reacuring theme in a story for example the mocking bird theme, it comes up alot in the story.

Motif adds to To Kill a Mocking Bird because it gives a plot line to the story. The plot line needs something to be centered on like the solar system. The sun would be representing the motif, and the planets would be like all the different themes like Boo Radley and the to kill a mocking bird theme.

Extra Credit

One of the characters I played was Bob Ewell and For my picture I chose fire. I chose fire because both fire and Bob Ewell are dangerous and unpredictable. For example, compare a forest fire and Bob Ewell drinking and beating up his daughter. A forest fire can burn trees up like snacks and you can never be sure where it's going to go and what its going to burn. And if you where anywhere near Bob Ewell when he was drinking and angry, which he is pretty much all the time, you could get punched in the face even if you are his daughter.

One Christmas when I was visiting my relatives in Illinois, I was talking about bullies at my school to my uncle when he told me that if I don't ever want to get bullied you should always treat others like you want to be treated. At the time I may have just been interested in my presents that I would get to unwrap the next morning, but those words stayed with me.

Now I always try to be everyone I meet for two main reasons. The first reason is I don't really want anyone to be mean to me because then I might make enemies with someone who could have been my new best friend. My second reason is that it is just nice to be nice and bullying can ruin some peoples lives. The words that my uncle said so long ago may have saved my from a lonely, sad, and depressing bullies life and for that I am eternally grateful.
